Women’s Clothing Sizes: A Man's Worst Nightmare!

By: Gabriel Adams

One year for my wife’s birthday I decided I would try to buy her clothes as a gift. She usually buys me clothes for holiday gifts, and I really enjoy them, so I thought I would try to return the favor. I went to the mall and walked into one of the stores to try to find some women’s clothing. I asked one of the ladies that worked at the store where the women’s clothing section was, and she asked me what size I was looking for. I was not sure how to answer the question, so then she proceeded to ask me if my wife was a women’s size, a petite, a junior, or a misses. Well I told her that she was a woman, but I am not quite sure what the rest of that stuff means. Little did I know that this was only the beginning of my problems!

Finally after about fifteen minutes of speaking with the sales lady we realized that my wife was probably a women’s size. She walked me over to that section of clothing and I told her that I would look around and let her know if I needed anymore help. Boy did I ever need more help! I expected to see some sizing information on the clothing that would actually tell you something about the size of the clothes. I was wrong. There was nothing about the sizing in the women’s clothing section that made any sense to me. I was looking at some pants for my wife and they said size 12. What the heck does that mean? When I buy pants they say 34 x 36, and I know that the waist is 34 inches and the legs are 36 inches long. I could not tell if the size 12 was the length or the waist, and the 12 did not seem to represent inches either, so I have no idea what it means.

I spent about an hour in the women’s clothing section, and then got discouraged, so I thought I would try to buy a sexy bra for my wife. That sure blew up in my face. When I looked at the bra sizes, I was even more confused than I was when looking at the women’s sizes. The bra sizes actually had letters on them for some unknown reason. Well that year my wife got some earrings and she loved them, so the moral of the story is do not try to buy your wife clothing for her birthday - diamonds definitely are a girl’s best friend!
